Our opinion: While
both sides have a point, wouldn't it be best to compromise?
Lake County Commissioner Rudy Clay, D-Gary, raised a stink a month or so
ago when he found out there were fewer than a handful of minorities
among the 49 people employed by the county health department.
Clay, who has made the hiring of minorities his priority as
commissioner, said the health department staff should reflect the
county's population, which is about 25 percent black.
Clay has a point. |
